Goril

Goril

I have a 16 year old Timneh African Grey parrot named Gorilla.  She rocks my world.  I also have a husband.  Not as much.  Tee hee.  But seriously, for those of you who own birds you already know the strong bond that is there.  And for those that do not, let me tell you about it.  Goril has the intelligence of a 3-5 year old child and therefore it is like having a child around.  Seriously.  When she hears you get up, she starts chatting.  When she wants to eat she lets you know.  When she is upset she has a tantrum complete with growls.  She talks up a storm at various points in the day and is always curious about her surroundings and especially new people.

When you aren’t paying attention to her she says “helllllloooooooo?” and has about a 100 word vocabulary.  Her favorite place to hang out is on people’s heads or her t-stand.  She likes to hang upside down from her cage and make figure eights with her head, ring her bell and say “you’re wild”.  We dance and sing together.  She loves Glee songs by Lea Michelle.  I’m working on teaching her colors and numbers right now but it has been a slow process.

My husband and I are curious to see how she reacts once we decide to have a baby.  Until then, she is my baby.
